One of the cast of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is sharing some hints at the deleted scenes that didn't make it into the show's first season.

If there’s one thing fans know about Game of Thrones and its spinoffs, it's that so much more is filmed than makes it into the final airing. There’s a reason every DVD/Blu-Ray season set for Game of Thrones boasts some prime deleted scenes — though they have been sadly absent from the home releases for House of the Dragon.

Given that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has episodes that are often barely over half an hour long, it stands to reason they had to leave stuff out. Now, Cara Harris, who plays Lady Gwin Ashford, is sharing details for two scenes that shed more light on her character. Harris discussed them on The Wayne Ayers Podcast, but you can watch a clip of the part about the delete scenes below:

“There were two scenes that were cut," Harris revealed. "So I was, during the night jousting, I was actually supposed to ride in on a horse with a knight. I'm not going to...I'm not sure if I should name the knight, but I was going to ride in on a horse with a knight and I was going to hop off the horse and turn to all the, you know, the crowd and do a little curtsy and then turn around and see my father. And my father was gYoing to be a bit like disappointed. He was like, what are you doing here? You're supposed to be in bed. eah, so that got cut.”

The first scene Harris described seems to have been a classic case of cut for time and does add little to the overall story aside from showing how controlling her father is. Harris added that cutting the scene was “a little bit of a shame because I did do some horse riding lessons and stuff for it, but it was fun to shoot. So I'm just glad I got to have that experience.”

Just who that knight was is interesting to imagine. Dunk didn't take part in the night joust, so we can say with certainty that it wasn't him. Perhaps it could have been one of the other knights, such as Lyonel Baratheon, Medgar Tully, or Humfrey Hardyng, with Gwin’s father naturally not approving of her riding with any man at her age.

As for the second scene, Harris explained it comes after Dunk’s action led to her grand celebration turning into the Trial of the Seven, during her final encounter with the hedge knight during the season finale. It seems there was an addition to Gwin saying not to blame Dunk for things going awry.

“When I say I don't blame Dunk for ruining my name day there, I turn around and I walk off and then I come back and there's this cut scene where...I say, you know, if we were to be wed — I think I had a little crush on him — so I was saying if I were to be wed, you know, come back," she recalled.

It’s an interesting turn, as it expands on Gwin’s character. In the novella, she barely gets any focus and is more used as a plot device. The tournament is held to celebrate her 13th name day, but it ends up being the backdrop to the Trial that completely changes the course of Westeros' history. The show gives her more time on screen and a bit more character development as a young woman wanting to break out from under her father’s thumb.

It’s unclear if Harris will return for season 2, given Gwin was only involved in the first book. Yet there’s a chance the show may make some alterations to include her. It's too bad that these scenes aren't listed in the special features for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' Blu-ray release, since they would have been a good way to let fans see more of Lady Gwin and continue the franchise's legacy of revealing fun, cut material that was as just good as what we got in the finished show.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 is streaming on HBO Max. It releases on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD on June 16.
