The 2026 Golden Globe nominations are out and quite a few fantasy and science fiction TV shows scored nominations!
One great thing about the Golden Globes is how they recognize genre TV more than the Emmys do. While some sci-fi or fantasy shows get nods for Emmys, the Globes are more welcoming of genre television series. That came to the fore with the nominations for the 2026 Globes, as a few fantasy and sci-fi TV shows earned recognition.

Pluribus and Severance lead Apple’s nominations
After a very long wait, Apple TV+’s Severance returned for another season of the mind-bending drama about office workers whose personalities are rewired for their work. The first season earned nominations for Best Television Series Drama, along with nods for stars Adam Scott and John Turturro.
This year, Severance once more earned a Best Drama nod, with nominations for Scott and co-stars Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman (both of whom won Emmys for the show in the fall), for Best Male Actor, Female Actor, and Male Actor in a Supporting Role, respectively. While it’s a lower number of nominations than the show got from the Emmys, it’s still a good haul.
Meanwhile, Apple TV+’s buzzy brand new sci-fi series Pluribus is still in the middle of its first season, but it still scored a Best Drama nod along with a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a drama television series for Rea Sheehorn as the woman facing a bizarre alien invasion.
The two shows prove how Apple TV+ has become a go-to streamer for the sort of unique genre series that the Globes have come to recognize.

Multiple genre shows received Golden Globes nominations
A few other genre shows did well at the Globes. Netflix’s sci-fi/horror anthology Black Mirror scored a nomination for Best Limited Series, with Rashida Jones earning a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology or Motion Picture made for television for her turn in the episode “Common People.” Also, Paul Giamatti was nominated for his role in the episode “Eulogy.”
Bella Ramsey got a Best Performance by a Female Actor (Drama) for her turn in The Last of Us as heroine Elle, although the series (and co-star Pedro Pascal) were otherwise locked out.
A bit of a surprise snub was the acclaimed Star Wars series Andor not getting a nomination for Best Drama Series. However, star Diego Luna did get a nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor (Drama) along with Sterling K. Brown for Hulu’s dark disaster drama Paradise. Finally, Jenna Ortega got a nod for Best Performance by a Female Actor (Musical or Comedy) for playing the title role in Netflix’s Wednesday.
While genre fans could have wished for nominations for some smaller and lesser-known shows like The Wheel of Time, Foundation or Alien: Earth, at least these nominations prove the Globes do indeed care about fantasy and science fiction!
The 83rd Annual Golden Globes air January 11, 2026 on CBS.
