Check out gorgeous new images from House of the Dragon season 2
By Dan Selcke
Today marks the release of House of the Dragon: Dawn of the Targaryen Civil War, a coffee table book that dives deep on the second season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel show. Author Gina McIntyre had access to the set and was able to talk to cast and crew members about their experience. The book also includes tons of photographs straight from the set, concept art, pictures of props, and more.
Let's focus on the images for right now, because a lot of them are making their way around the internet, with an X user named @glindacent being extremely thorough. I won't actually embed the photos here for fear of angering the copyright gods, but will link out to tons of stuff, including:
- A new pic of Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) sitting on the Iron Throne in Daemon's vision
- A concept art illustration of that same moment
- Milly Alcock as Young Rhaenyra Targaryen on the Iron Throne, in a different vision
- D'Arcy on the beach filming the scene where Rhaenyra finds the remains of her son Lucerys
- D'Arcy riding the dragon rig for Rhaenyra's dragon Syrax
- Up-close look at the incredible detail on Alicent Hightower's costumes
- Behind the scenes of Alicent and Rhaenyra's meeting in the Great Sept, which includes more blue screen than I expected
- Up-close shot of Rhaenyra and Daemon reuniting at Harrenhal
- Concept art of Rhaenyra addressing her forces at Harrenhal
- Concept art illustrating Aegon and Larys' escape from King's Landing
- Emma D'Arcy filming the finale as Rhaenyra Targaryen
- A new shot of Harry Collett and Tom Taylor as Jaehaerys Velaryon and Cregan Stark
- Daemon and Rhaenys Targaryen (Matt Smith and Eve Best) talking on Dragonstone
- Phia Saban (Helaena Targaryen) filming the Blood and Cheese scene
- Fabien Frankel (Criston Cole) and Freddie Fox (Gwayne Hightower) riding horses
- Matt Smith filming Daemon's visions at Harrenhal
- Rhaenys Targaryen dead after the Battle of Rook's Rest
