It's no secret that since its release on HBO last fall, The Penguin has been one of the most celebrated DC Studios properties in recent memory. The limited series, which has everyone clamoring for a second season, landed a staggering 24 Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and nods for the performances of Colin Ferrell, Cristin Milioti, and Deirdre O'Connell. As we await the show's Emmy fate, one star is musing on a potential future team-up.

While appearing on The Today Show, Cristin Milioti spoke about the excitement surrounding her first Emmy nomination for The Penguin and gave some insight into how she prepared for her role as Sofia. She loved donning a wig and worked hard on perfecting Sofia's fluctuating accent, but it's the suggestion of a potential season 2 or, perhaps more interestingly, a spinoff project focused on Sofia and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman that will have fans hanging on every word.

"Oh, I mean, it would be great. It would be a real, it would be a great time," Milioti said when asked about the possibility of a Sofia and Catwoman follow-up. Oddly enough, the interviewers pressed on and inquired whether Milioti has discussed the potential for the project, to which she responded, "With who?" Following that answer, the actress seemed to get flustered and didn't fully answer the question. Hmm... Does that mean that there have actually been conversations?

"Everyone knows I would love to revisit it," Milioti simply wrapped up answering the question. While she and Kravitz are friends in real life, the actress wasn't forthcoming with a definitive response to whether the pair have spoken to bringing their DC characters together in a project. But Milioti seems to suggest that the right people, whether that's Kravitz or DC head honcho James Gunn, know that she's ready and willing to step back into her role as Sofia for another season or even a movie.

It's probably unlikely that anything's currently in the works, especially since The Batman Part II will begin filming in spring 2026 for a release in October 2027. The long awaited sequel definitely pulls rank when it comes to what's next in the grand scheme of Batman lore at DC Studios, which would push any hopes of Sofia and Catwoman teaming up further into the future. However, Milioti's answer still has us wondering if there could be something secret coming down the pipeline.

We all know that superhero movies love their cameos, and it wouldn't be out of place for The Batman Part II to feature Milioti as Sofia in either as a small role or a surprise cameo. After all, The Penguin was a direct spinoff of The Batman, and Farrell has been confirmed to return for the sequel. In the miniseries' final, Sofia receives a letter from Catwoman, who's revealed to be her half-sister. Obviously, this threw some gasoline on the fire of fans' hopes for the future of the character and saga.

The fact that they share a father is the perfect connective tissue to bring these characters together in the future. It's what fans want to see, and Milioti is on board, too! Hopefully, there will be some exciting updates about Milioti's potential involvement in The Batman Part II as production ramps up next year, but even if that doesn't actually happen, we can always hope for The Penguin season 2 or another spinoff series or movie centered on Sofia and Catwoman. Keep your fingers crossed!
