The new Star Wars: Visions season 3 trailer is finally here! And, just in time, too!
Season 3 premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, Oct. 29, and now, it's time to watch the trailer for the new season.
The trailer features footage from several different episodes, perhaps all nine episodes, all of which sport the same kind of visual verve and kinetic eccentricity the series has come to be defined by.

Much has been made of Star Wars’ pivot to streaming TV over the course of the last several years. In the wake of incredibly divisive Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Disney and Lucasfilm shied away from enduring such public humiliation once more and instead looked for a simpler path forward.
Funnily enough, a potential answer to these woes had actually premiered just a few weeks earlier, when Disney launched its streaming platform, Disney+, featuring its flagship live-action Star Wars TV series, The Mandalorian. As Rise of Skywalker was getting the worst reviews in the movie franchise’s history, audiences across the world were eating up The Mandalorian. Thus, Disney elected to hold off on future films and instead moved everything over to streaming from 2019 onward.
Several years removed from that decision now, its apparent that the results have been decidedly mixed. While the streaming TV format has allowed for some stories to truly prosper within it, such as the Emmy Award-winning Andor, others have been less than stellar.
However, if there is one Star Wars streaming series that has truly taken full advantage of the franchise’s illustrious legacy and the distribution method of the platform itself, it is Star Wars: Visions. And, as you can see in the new trailer for season 3, it looks as if the series is going to continue pushing the boundaries of the Star Wars galaxy with aplomb and ambition.
Famously, George Lucas was highly inspired by numerous Japanese influences during the making of the original 1977 Star Wars film, such as renowned filmmaker Akira Kurosawa and specifically his 1958 film, The Hidden Fortress.
In this way, when the inaugural season of Star Wars: Visions was released in 2021, it felt like a righteous reclamation of sorts. The first season saw seven different Japanese animation studios producing a total of nine short films, which were classified as episodes for release. Each of these installments was distinctly out-of-canon, allowing the studios to have free reign and play within the larger mythos of Star Wars storytelling in experimental, innovative, and invigorating fashion. This wasn’t The Mandalorian; there was no gratuitous fan service in the form of a surprise Luke Skywalker cameo on the horizon. These were all new characters, all new worlds, and all new stories, rooted firmly in the iconogrpahy, themes, and larger ethos of Star Wars.
As you all remember, Star Wars: Visions season 2 was released in 2023 and saw an even wider array of animation studios joining the fray, from various international regions across the world to even more eclectic results.
In a media landscape where many of the other Star Wars TV series have blended together into a mush of content, the new trailer for season three promises that Star Wars: Visions is going to remain as idiosyncratically distinct and thematically cohesive as ever before, and that rules.
