The Fallout season 2 release date has finally been revealed, but there's a catch that most Fallout fans will want to know!

In the new teaser trailer, Prime Video revealed Fallout season 2 premieres on Wednesday, Dec. 17. We learned months ago that Fallout season 2 was coming in December, so it's great to have a premiere date finally.

Ella Purnell returns for season 2 as Lucy MacLean, along with Walton Goggins as The Ghoul and Aaron Moten as Maximus. Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Moisés Arias will also return for the second season of Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet's Prime Video series.

According to Prime Video, the cast shared the new teaser trailer for Fallout season 2 at the gamescom Opening Night Live global livestream. Here's the Fallout season 2 trailer:

And, the catch? Well, let's talk about that!

New Fallout season 2 episodes will be released weekly on Prime Video

For the first season, you might remember that all eight episodes of Fallout were released on one day. Fans had a great time binge-watching the whole first season of the series in no time. In fact, Fallout is one of Prime Video's three biggest shows of all time, along with The Boys and The Rings of Power.

For Fallout season 2, that release schedule is changing! Instead of all eight episodes of season 2 available to stream on Dec. 17, Prime Video is going to release one episode per week on Wednesdays. The season finale will air on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026.

So, as you can see, the new season will be spread over several months throughout the holiday season and the beginning of 2026.

At one time, I would have loved the eight-episode binge drop for Fallout season 2. This is such a great show, and it moves so quickly. I want to watch each episode as fast as possible to find out what happens. Part of me still feels like that, but I've become much more in favor of the weekly release model, especially for popular shows.

We wait so long between seasons of these shows. We need to just chill and take our time and enjoy this show together. We need more community. We need good things to talk about. TV can be that oasis that it used to be before Netflix came around and changed how the world works.

And, look, I'm definitely not anti-Netflix or anti-dropping-all-the-episode-of-one-season-on-one-day. I just think there's a better way to bring people together. Some shows need that binge drop schedule to create a little more momentum and intrigue. When a show has arrived like a Fallout or a Stranger Things, we need to savor those kinds of shows!

Fallout season 2 premieres on Wednesday, Dec. 17! Stay tuned for more information about the new season.
