The Fallout franchise has not seen this amount of attention in quite some time. Due to the wild success of the show's first season, it's not surprising that Amazon greenlit a second season for the show that brought so many viewers into the wasteland.

Today we got the official trailer for the second season of the show. Lucy (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) are all returning to continue where they left off, along with some old and new acquaintances. Not only that, but we get to see a brand new location for them to explore: New Vegas!

What's the deal with New Vegas?

For people who have only tuned in to the show, the barren location of New Vegas might not seem all that special. However, the Mojave Desert is the exact setting of Fallout: New Vegas, which is hands down the most popular game in the series. The game is widely acknowledged among fans as having stellar storytelling, interesting characters, and much more. It still has a decent player base on Steam, despite being over a decade old.

The showrunners know how much people adore New Vegas with all the easter eggs they have crammed into the trailer. We also get to see more classic monsters that can be found in this universe, like the agile radscorpion and the fearsome deathclaw. I have to give props to the visual designers for bringing this world to life, as it surely isn't easy to make this stylized fictional world feel real!

What can we expect from this new season?

As far as the story goes, there are so many ways this season can up the ante with all the possible storylines that they can borrow from the game. Based on the fact that we see the NCR, Caesar's legion, Mr. House, and the Brotherhood of Steel, there's no question that an all-out war will break out. Lucy's relationship with The Ghoul is bound to be interesting, as there's no telling if her optimistic outlook will last much longer.

It will be cool to see Maximus reunite with the Brotherhood and to see whether he can readjust back into his militaristic life. Seeing Thaddeus and the odd doctor again gives me hope that they will have more relevance in the story than they did in the first season. I think we can also expect more spectacle with the fights as the stakes get higher. Either way, New Vegas will be a blast to see again, and I am excited to see how it will play into the show!

Fallout season 2 premieres December 17 on Prime Video.
