At long last, HBO has confirmed the release date for House of the Dragon season 3. We knew the show would return in June, yes, but when in June? The speculation can finally stop, because it's been made official: House of the Dragon premieres its third season on June 21 on HBO and HBO Max.

This news comes via an explosive new teaser trailer the show released today. First shown to lucky fans at CCXP over the weekend, the latest House of the Dragon season 3 trailer is absolutely epic. From Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) soaring across the sky on her dragon Syrax, to ships and dragons during the Battle of the Gullet, to Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) at war in the Riverlands, Vhagar burning what looks like the forces at Harrenhal and more, there is so much to get excited about in this teaser trailer. House of the Dragon season 3 teaser trailer

It's been almost two years since House of the Dragon season 2 wrapped up its run, and with a slew of major cliffhangers to boot. The wait has long, but if this trailer is anything to go by, the Dance of the Dragons civil war has arrived in earnest.

The highlight of the trailer for me is, of course, the dragons. House of the Dragon has had a bit of a mixed reception since its divisive season 2 finale, but say what you will of it, the show never misses when it comes to the spectacle of its dozens of fire-breathing beasts on screen. This trailer features plenty of them, including Caraxes, Vhagar, and Syrax. It also gives us glimpses at characters in exciting locations that hint at what's to come, such Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) standing decked out in armor without his eyepatch in the castle of Harrenhal and telling someone to draw their sword, or Daemon Targaryen fighting guards in the Red Keep of King's Landing.

Another highlight is Ormund Hightower, played by James Norton. We've heard plenty about how he's the most important new character being introduced in season 3, but this trailer is the first time it's actually felt like it, as he rallies people to his cause to throw the Targaryen yoke off of Westeros. It's going to be good to have another powerful character in the mix who's not part of House Targaryen or Velaryon.
