Despite the gradual pacing of House of the Dragon season 3 episode 5, "Unbowed and Unbent" concludes on a suspenseful note — one that will leave fans eager to get their hands on episode 6.
The fifth installment sees Rhaenyra and Daemon grappling with the murders of their Gold Cloaks in King's Landing. Meanwhile, Criston Cole marches willingly toward his death, and Alicent tries to deal with Helaena's secret pregnancy. There's a lot going on, and none of these storylines are neatly resolved by the end of the episode. In fact, its final moments will leave viewers more surprised and curious than anything else.
Fortunately, House of the Dragon season 3 episode 6 should clear up some of this week's cliffhangers. It's doubtful Criston can spend another episode giving speeches, and Alicent and Helaena will undoubtedly be caught trying to escape. House of the Dragon season 3's release schedule remains the same. New episodes of the Game of Thrones spinoff debut on HBO at 9 p.m. ET every Sunday. This is set to continue until Sunday, August 9, when the finale will air. The weeks leading up to this closing chapter should become increasingly intense, as we're likely heading toward another battle — at least if HBO's look ahead is anything to judge by.
Those tuning in on the HBO channel will need to press play at 9 p.m. ET Otherwise, they risk missing important details during episode 6's opening. Anyone running late can also dive in at a later time. Looking at HBO's schedule for Sunday, episode 6 will air again at 10:07 p.m. ET and then at midnight. What happened in episode 5 and what to expect from episode 6
House of the Dragon season 3 episode 5 sees the Gold Cloaks being picked off, with a particularly gruesome attack on the group concluding the episode. It's likely Ormund Hightower is involved, hoping to cut off Rhaenyra's support in King's Landing. And HBO's preview for episode 6 promises to escalate the tensions between Ormund and Rhaenyra further.
Ormund declares that they "have the clear advantage" in the footage, emphasizing that his plan is to make her appear "weak and unsuited to rule." He may find himself facing Rhaenyra's ire sooner than he expects, though, as she tells someone that she cannot let something go unanswered. It's not 100% clear if that has to do with Tumbleton, but it's a possibility. Daemon certainly seems ready to hit the enemy with fire power. Alyn, however, may pull Rhaenyra back from that extreme.
We also get a couple shots of action in the Riverlands, which suggests Criston Cole is indeed moving ahead. That means the Butcher's Ball from Fire & Blood could very well happen this week. Whether the series will drag out Criston's efforts against the Riverlords and Winter Wolves, or give him the end he so clearly wants, remains to be seen.
The people of King's Landing also seem desperate to petition Rhaenyra, so Ormund's plan might be working whether she retaliates or not. Things don't look great for anyone heading into House of the Dragon season 3 episode 6. We'll have to wait and see who comes out on top of this week's installment.
