House of the Dragon season 3 episode 6 sees the Greens and Blacks facing significant losses — some more permanent than others — and tensions are set to boil over in episode 7.
The back-and-forth between Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and Lord Ormund Hightower is poised to escalate in the coming chapter, especially now that the latter has captured Lord Corlys Velaryon. There’s only so much Rhaenyra can overlook, and we’re nearing the end of House of the Dragon season 3. The battle teased in the “weeks ahead” trailer is looming, and while it may not unfold this week, the next installment will put the pieces in place for it.
Daemon is certainly ready to burn the enemy, and I’m guessing Rhaenyra will reach that point this week as well. The Game of Thrones spinoff teases further unraveling for her character. House of the Dragon season 3 episode 7 will follow the same release schedule as the rest of the season. The new episode airs on HBO on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, and those watching on the network itself will need to press play at that time. Otherwise, they’ll risk missing the opening moments — and we all know how important every conversation is to House of the Dragon’s bigger picture.
Fortunately, HBO’s schedule confirms that it will re-air the episode at 10:08 p.m. and again at 11:56 p.m. Re-runs will continue through the night, with HBO showing the episode at 1:04 a.m. and 2:12 a.m. ET on Monday, August 3 as well.

What happened in episode 6 and what to expect from episode 7
House of the Dragon season 3 episode 6 features the long-awaited end of Ser Criston Cole, making a victory for the Blacks. However, given their failed assassination attempt at Tumbleton and Lord Corlys’ abduction at the end, it’s a short-lived triumph. Lord Ormund Hightower continues to test Rhaenyra’s patience, and she looks to be at the end of it in episode 7.
HBO’s teaser for the next installment shows a clearly stressed Targaryen queen — so much that she’s even snapping at Helaena. It also sees Addam reporting “something strange” to her, which probably means that Rhaena’s relationship with Sheepstealer is about to be exposed.
On the Green end of things, Alicent arrives at Harrenhal to confront Aemond. Unfortunately for her, Alys Rivers warns him of her intentions, meaning her mission isn’t likely to get very far. Given that Alicent’s attempted assassination is invented for the show, it’ll be interesting to see what the writers are planning there.
Ormund also teases having “a piece on the board now that will bring the save queen to her knees.” He could be talking about Corlys Velaryon, but last week’s chapter also sets up Ulf’s and Hugh’s betrayal. Either way, Ormund’s words can’t bode well for the Blacks.
And finally, there’s a glimpse of Aegon looking surprised and seemingly standing in the glow of fire. This could mean House of the Dragon is confirming Sunfyre isn’t dead after all…but that could just be wishful thinking on my part. Either way, fans can prepare for more surprises in episode 7. And it should be another intense hour of television, as it’s tasked with setting up an action-packed finale in episode 8.
