It sounds wild, but 2026 is the most prolific year ever for Westeros content. With the six-episode debut of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and an eight-episode run for House of the Dragon season 3, fans are getting a massive14-episode double feature. Of course, we've already gotten off to a stellar start with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Next up is what promises to be the most epic season of House of the Dragon yet. But don't take it from us. Showrunner Ryan Condal himself has been celebrating it profusely, saying: "It’s the biggest we’ve made by any margin and by a wide measure."
Earlier this week HBO debuted the official trailer for House of the Dragon season 3, and hype is ramping up. Building on that hype, Condal has continued to share his excitement for the season's summer premiere. Condal was not in attendance at the show's panel during CCXP Mexico, simply because he's in the UK wrapping up post-production on season 3 ahead of its June debut. “I’m very sad to not be joining you all there, but I’m back here in the U.K., putting the finishing touches on post-production in season three,” he said via video message (per The Hollywood Reporter).
Condal went on to rhapsodize about the upcoming installment. “This is a huge season," he teased. "It’s the biggest we’ve made by any margin and by a wide measure. It is dark. It’s funny. It’s action-packed. It’s emotional."
Like every season, the show will continue to bring the dragons. "And, of course, it has lots and lots of dragons," Condal added. "This season demanded the very best of everybody that collaborated to make it together, and I can’t wait for the world to experience it.”

The new season promises epic moments, covering some of the most legendary battles in Westeros during the Dance of the Dragons, not least the naval skirmish The Battle of the Gullet, which fans have long been waiting for. As Rhaenyra and Alicent vie for power, the battles come in droves. Star Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen) promises "a lot of battles,” adding: “This season, we’re trying to make it bigger, bolder, bloodier, more brutal, more dangerous — just get back to the nuts and bolts of what we are as a show.”
Speaking of playing Daemon, Smith explained why he loves the role so much. “What I admire about Daemon is, he just doesn’t give a fuck: ‘I’ll do what I want, how I want, when I want,'” he explained. “There’s something amazing about that.”
House of the Dragon season 3 premieres June 21 on HBO Max.
