Filming on the third season of House of the Dragon continues. There's a lot coming our way in season 3, including the Battle of the Gullet, a spectacular naval battle that will land early in the season. The cast and crew have not been shy about hyping this scene up to the high heavens, bragging about how it will do things that have never been done on television before. Why not set the bar high?

We've already seen some of the huge ships the crew has built at Leavesden Studios in England, but they will also be shooting on location. We've seen what looks like the debris of ships on a beach on the island of Anglesey, Wales, so you know things are going to get explosive. The X account House the Dragons has more images of assorted props on the beach:

According to House the Dragons, they're filming scenes on a beach starting today!

On a possibly related note, cast member Bethany Antonia, who plays Daemon Targaryen's daughter Baela, has shown up in Wales; she posted an image of her trailer on her Instagram.

Baela rides the dragon Moondancer. In George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood, she doesn't participate in the Battle of the Gullet — that's reserved for the dragon-riding peasants Rhaenyra has drafted into her ranks, plus her son Jacaerys — but I could see a world where the show adds her into the mix.

Of course, just because Antonia is in Wales doesn't mean she's filming scenes for the Battle of the Gullet; they're using Wales for quite a lot of locations, including the Riverlands and the Vale and who knows what else?

Another fun tidbit: there's a trailer for Rhaenyra Targaryen herself, played by Emma D'Arcy:

Filming on House of the Dragon season 3 has been going on for a while and will continue for a while yet. Expect new episodes to start airing on HBO and HBO Max sometime in the back half of 2026. That means fans will be waiting at least two years between seasons, which is rough; at least HBO is tossing fans a bone with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a new Game of Thrones prequel series airing early next year.

As for House of the Dragon season 3, hopefully it hits the ground running and doesn't stop. The cast and crew have set high expectations for it, but we won't for for sure until we see it ourselves.
