House of the Dragon season 3 has two upcoming events fans should watch for new details and footage

Two important events are coming for House of the Dragon season 3, and we have predictions about what will come out of them.

In a two short months, HBO will premiere the third season of House of the Dragon, its epic prequel spinoff of Game of Thrones. The show's first two seasons took their time setting the pieces on the board for the Dance of the Dragons civil war, and now the Seven Kingdoms will bleed as the Greens and Blacks march to battle.

We've already seen a first teaser trailer for the season, which will premiere sometime in June 2026. It was enough to whet the appetite, but just like the show's titular dragons, our hunger for more is insatiable. Fortunately, with the show's premiere right around the corner, the marketing machine is kicking into high gear. House of the Dragon is about to hit a few promotional events, and we're expecting some major new drops for the season to happen at them.

If you're a fan of the series, you'll definitely want to keep your eyes peeled for updates around these two events, which we'll highlight below so you can add them to your calendar and begin your watch.

Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, and Fabien Frankel head to CCXP on April 25

First up we have CCXP, a large annual fan convention that takes place in several contries, including Brazil and Mexico. This year's Mexico edition of CCXP runs from April 24 to the 26 in Mexico City, and House of the Dragon cast members Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), and Fabien Frankel (Criston Cole) will all be in attendance to hype the season.

Back in 2023, House of the Dragon premiered a new trailer at CCXP in Brazil. Obviously we can't say for certain whether that will be the case at this year's event, but I would be shocked if there wasn't some kind of footage, new posters, or other marketing material released around the show's panel. Considering that we'll be two months or less away from the season premiere, no matter where in June it happens to fall, I would be we'll at the very least get a release date.

House of the Dragon's panel at CCXP will take place on April 25. For more information, check out the CCXP website.

Predictions: New trailer, release date, teases from the cast

The Battle of the Gullet is coming to ATX TV Festival on May 28

The other big event on the horizon for House of the Dragon season 3 is the ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, which takes place from May 28 to May 31. According to the festival's website, House of the Dragon's panel will take place as at 7:00 p.m. Central Time.

Unlike CCXP, we know exactly what House of the Dragon is bringing to the ATX TV Festival: hype for the Battle of the Gullet, the massive naval battle that's expected to feature in the season 3 premiere. Here's the official description of the event:

Join the cast and showrunner of HBO's hit drama House of the Dragon for an exclusive look at never‑before‑seen footage and behind‑the‑scenes insights into the making of the epic Battle of the Gullet. Panelists include Ryan Condal, Steve Toussaint [Corlys Velaryon], Harry Collett [Jacaerys Velaryon], Bethany Antonia [Baela Targaryen], and Abubakar Salim [Alyn of Hull], who will dive into the dramatic season three opening ahead of the highly anticipated return of House of the Dragon, debuting this June on HBO and HBO Max.

Yes, that's right, showrunner Ryan Condal and company will be debuting new footage from the Battle of the Gullet! This is going to be like a spike of adrenaline straight to the heart, jacking up the fandom's anticipation. The Battle of the Gullet is one of the most notable events in the Dance of the Dragons civil war, and many readers of George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood have been waiting years to see it dramatized on screen. The cast and crew have been teasing it to be an absolute barn-burner, so any glimpses or behind-the-scenes details we get from ATX TV Festival will be a great way to tide us over until the season premieres the following month.

I firmly expect that we'll already know the release date for House of the Dragon season 3 by this point, but that's fine, because there's plenty else to get excited about.

Predictions: Cast and crew insights, new footage from season premiere shown at event, a behind-the-scenes teaser

There will almost certainly be other notable events or marketing moves planned by HBO and the House of the Dragon team in the lead up to the show's season 3 premiere, but for right now, CCXP and the ATX TV Festival are the two big ones to keep your eye on. We certainly will be — check back as we hit those dates for our full reporting on what House of the Dragon unveils.
