Since House of the Dragon season 3 began this summer, one of the most talked about characters among fans has been Ormund Hightower. Sure, we still can't get enough of Rhaenyra and Daemon and all of our other favorite characters we love (or love to hate... or hate to love), but the new character has arrived with quirks of his own and a vibe that's otherwise tough to figure out.
James Norton joined the House of the Dragon season 3 cast as Ormund Hightower, the head of House Hightower and Alicent's cousin. He had taken Alicent's son Daeron under his wing, but upon the child's return to King's Landing in episode 3, it was quickly realized that Ormund had sent an imposter. It's just one of the instances of Ormund being a character we're enjoying getting to know.
As it turns out, Ormund isn't anywhere near finished with keeping fans talking about him online. Recently, fans have learned that Ormund will have a nude scene in House of the Dragon season 3 episode 4, and Norton shared some insight on what to expect from the "camp" instance of nudity. If Game of Thrones history has taught us anything, we should definitely expect to be shocked.
James Norton previews Ormund's highly anticipated nude scene
While chatting on a panel at the 2026 GQ Heroes summit with co-star Ewan Mitchell about House of the Dragon season 3, Norton was asked about an upcoming scene in which he's "not wearing any armor." In the scene, as the interviewer explains, Ormund gets out of the bathtub and he's "very camp." The star doesn't confirm what we will see in this nude scene, but did offer some insight into how he approached the nudity.
"What I love about this show for me, as well, is I got to see you guys find the tone," he started explaining. "If you don't trust the director, you give them a very small parameter of options because you think, in the edit, they could take the real extreme ones and manipulate your performance into something you didn't intend. This, I was like, you know what, f-ck it, I'm just gonna give them a big range. I have this line where I'm like, 'Is she a queen or is she a b-tch with a dragon?,' and I kind of cock my hip. And they used it, they used the really camp one."
As Norton's explanation of his line and how he performed it gained chuckles from the audience, the interviewer shared another detail about the scene in question: "Your whole ass fills the screen." The comment nearly made Norton thank the interviewer, but the actor also laughed and actually got a little flustered as he joked that he wasn't sure if that's a compliment or not.
Well, that will be up to the fans after they watch the scene on Sunday, July 12. When the details regarding the episode's rating dropped, which included "brief nudity" as a category, social media lit up with excitement and anticipation for Ormund's nude scene that Norton talked about onstage. Some fans have gone so far as to hope for the scene to push the envelope even more.
It's no surprise that fans are eager for House of the Dragon season 3 to get a little bit edgier as this highly anticipated scene will be one of the biggest nude scenes of the season thus far. It's definitely the most publicized nude scene of the season.
But even beyond the nudity of it all, the scene and Norton's teasing boil down to fans continuing to get to know Ormund and seeing another side of him. Of course, that side is his backside, but it's surely going to be the most vulnerable state we've seen him in yet.
