Daredevil: Born Again, a Disney+ revival of the Netflix Daredevil show which ran from 2015 to 2018, is just a few weeks away from airing. Fans are extremely excited to see Charlie Cox back in action as Matt Murdock, this time as a fully-fledged MCU hero. But it's not just Daredevil everyone is excited to see return to our screens; the show also sees the comeback of beloved supporting characters Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
When Disney original tried to reboot the Netflix Daredevil show, neither Foggy nor Karen were included, which is pretty ridiculous. I mean, those two characters were the heart and soul of the original series. They aren't just Murdock's business partners, but his best friends and the only people he can truly confide in. It wouldn't be a Daredevil reboot without them.
When Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane joined the series, he made it his utmost priority to ensure that Foggy and Karen were involved. “That was actually one of the first things I said to the bosses,” he told Empire. “You can’t do this show without Karen and Foggy. They’re Matt’s family. They’re the heart of his world. You can’t take them out without explaining why, and if that explanation doesn’t ring true, don’t take them out.”
He was so determined to have Karen and Foggy back for Born Again that he would have walked off the job if it didn't happen. “I was willing to lose a job over this one. Because Season 3 of the Netflix show ended with a dream, with the names on that napkin. If you don’t pay that off, you’re not giving your characters context," he explained. "You can’t ignore that dream.”
Thankfully, Scardapane got his wish. Along with that, the new series will mark the return of numerous stars of the original series, including the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and the Kingpin himself, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio). It's all set up to be a pretty epic return to action. Check out the trailer:
She-Hulk's Tatiana Maslany would happily appear in Daredevil: Born Again
Charlie Cox's Daredevil was first introduced into the MCU proper with cameo appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Disney+ show She-Hulk, which starred Tatiana Maslany as the title character. There have been no reports of Maslany reprising her role in the new Daredevil, but the actress is down for it. "Would I be born again? I mean, absolutely, he was so great," she toldScreen Rant. "He was so fun, like a really fun person to play with. And I think what he did so well was take a character that exists in a different tone and totally adapt him for this new tone, while still maintaining the integrity of the character, which is actually very funny, then. To see him collide with this sort of goofier world."
She-Hulk was a bit on the lighter side compared to Daredevil, but Maslany is an acommplished performer who could easily adjust if needed. "I have a serious, well, I have a lot of serious bones in my body."
Daredevil: Born Again arrives on Disney+ on March 5.
