A creative at AMC has confirmed that Interview with the Vampire will return for a third season under a new title: The Vampire Lestat. The series is set to premiere in April 2026, as revealed by series writer Anusree Roy. It marks a bold shift in narrative focus and tone.
Originally centered around Louis de Pointe du Lac's (Jacob Anderson) narration, Interview with the Vampire's first two seasons followed the structure of a confessional interview, with the older Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) probing Louis's life and history. But with Season 3, the story pivots to the perspective of Louis' former partner and vampire creator Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid). This season will explore Lestat's effort to reclaim his own narrative, particularly after his negative portrayal in earlier transcripts and retellings. Reports suggest he will embark on a musical path — forming a band, taking the stage, and reframing his mythos in the public eye.
Industry insiders have long speculated on the 2026 return, but the April date gained traction following a post on X showing a screenshot of an Instagram reel from Interview with the Vampire writer Anusree Roy, captioned with the date "April 2026!"

The Vampire Lestat adds new cast members
In new casting, Jennifer Ehle has been tapped to play Lestat's mother, Gabrielle, whose arrival is expected to stir dramatic tension and emotional reckonings. Sheila Atim (The Woman King) will perform the role of Queen Akasha. Other announced additions include Christopher Heyerdahl, Damien Atkins, Ella Ballentine, and Jeanine Serralles, pointing to a widening canvas that draws from multiple entries in The Vampire Chronicles. And of course, there are Lestate's bandmates: Noah Reid as Larry, Seamus Patterson as Alex, Ryan Kattner as Salamander, and and Sarah Swire as TC.
Fans have reacted with cautious optimism. The shift in focal character is ambitious. Lestat’s voice, his roiling emotions such as guilt, ambition, and heartbreak, and his redemption arc provide fertile ground for the character's growth. But this also elevate expectations. Will the show preserve the intimacy and psychological tension of the first two seasons, while embracing a more public, performative dimension? And what about the rockstar element to it all?
If the April 2026 launch holds, The Vampire Lestat will roll out a few months after The Talamasca spinoff widens this shared universe, offering fans a darker, more dramatic chapter in the ongoing Immortal Universe saga. The other spinoff, Mayfair Witches, reportedly began filming its third season this week in Vancouver, Canada.
With Anusree Roy confirming the premiere timeline for The Vampire Lestat, I'm now extremely excited for next April! Until then, here's a brand new extended first look from the upcoming season to tide us over:
