Kit Harington reveals which Game of Thrones stars he’s still in touch with (and yes, one is Emilia Clarke)

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington admits that the cast didn't stay in touch much anymore because they simply had to “get on with life.”

During its peak, the Game of Thrones cast was as famous as the show itself; they were one huge family, each destined for big things. From its stars who started off as children in season 1, like Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, to the young adult stars like Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, it was an ensemble cast who spent months on end filming together, and they developed close bonds.

The cast ultimately waved goodbye to each other after season 8 back in 2019. Since then, they've gone on to achieve big individual feats. For instance, a few, including Harington himself, have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while others have moved on to become household names and regulars on film and TV.

Looking at Kit Harington, the actor has admitted that the Thrones cast fell out of touch following the finale. However, he and Emilia Clarke remained close, and he messages a few others. “[I kept in touch with Emilia Clarke], yes, because she’s just down the road. But I think there’s an element of school leavers to it. We finished the thing, the magic is gone and everyone has to separate," he recently said on Variety’s Actors on Actors series, where he reunited with former co-star Peter Dinklage.

Naturally, Hollywood is a fast-paced business. There's little time for catching up. "But I do text John [Bradley] and Richard [Madden], and I’m still in touch with Alf [Allen],” he added. “I think we were all quite desperate — we just had to get on with life. We had so much time together that actually, we needed some [space].”

Just this year, Harington re-united with former co-star Sophie Turner for gothic horror movie The Dreadful, where they play lovers — an experience that Harington found particularly awkward. “It was weird,” he said, but the duo completed the gig and the movie was a success. “We did it. It was gross but it was fine. She’s an amazing actor. I know we all know that but she was a child when she [started on Game of Thrones]. She is phenomenal!”

In addition, Peter Dinklage added that the internet has rather misleading ways of making it seem like the cast has regular get-togethers. “We still have all those AI photos online of all of us still together at barbecues… Apparently alternate universe versions of us all still together at barbecues,” he joked.

It is summertime. Perhaps they should actually get together for a barbecue.

The next generation of Westeros stars return on June 21 for House of the Dragon season 3.
