Game of Thrones might not be coming to Netflix anytime soon after the company’s attempt to acquire Warner Bros. fell through, but it seems one of the stars of the newest show in the Game of Thrones franchise will be joining one of the biggest shows on Netflix!
Hot off his appearance in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Oscar Morgan has landed a role in the Wednesday season 3 cast, effectively making the jump from one hit fantasy series to another. Details surrounding Morgan’s character are being kept under tight lock and key, with Netflix only giving us the first name of his character: Atticus.
What is interesting though is that his character was among a select few whose names appeared on place-setting cards marked with a monogrammed B, a subtle clue that suggests his character will share a connection to Balthazar, Gomez’s presumed dead cousin. Given how complicated the Addams family tree is, it’s quite possible Atticus will be related to Jenna Ortega’s title character, and therefore factor into the family mystery set to unfold in season 3.
We know that season will be introducing more Addams family members as the show looks to unpack more family secrets in season 3. This suggests that family will somehow play an even larger role in Wednesday’s third season, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the place-setting card was a hint at how Morgan’s character will factor into the family tree.
Of course, the one thing we’re hoping is that Morgan will get a bit more screen-time in Wednesday season 3 than he did in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Morgan made his debut as Valarr Targaryen in the second episode of the season in memorable fashion on the jousting field. He then appeared briefly in episode 3 in which he was called out by his cousin Aerion Targaryen before he took to the arena for a joust. Of his appearances, his third appearance was the most notable, which came in the season finale at the funeral of his father, Prince Baelor.
During the trial of seven which occurred in episode, Prince Baelor borrowed his son Valarr’s armor to use as he had not brought any armor of his own having not expected to need it. As the armor was not tailored for his size with the helmet Baelor wore being too small for his head, the blow he took to the head from his brother Maekar’s mace proved fatal. At the funeral, Valarr was overcome with grief and regret that he had allowed his father to borrow his armor, which ultimately led to his death in combat.
Morgan is not expected to return in season 2 and it’s unlikely we’d see in season 3 either as Valarr. While the character is mentioned in the second or third books in George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight, he does not appear directly in the books and therefore is unlikely to appear in season 2. Those odds look even smaller now that Morgan has joined the cast of Wednesday, which is currently in production near Dublin.
Hopefully his role on Wednesday will help to open more doors as we’d definitely love to see more of Morgan on our screens, even if it’s not via further appearances in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
