For the first few phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the ultimate big bad was Thanos, played by Josh Brolin. He was defeated in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, and Marvel set about finding a new main villain. They chose Kang the Conqueror, played by Lovecraft Country veteran Jonathan Majors. Kang (or a Kang variant from an alternate dimension) had major roles in Loki and Ant-Man 3, but Disney's plans hit a huge snag when Majors was found guilty of harassment and of reckless assault in the third degree following an incident with his ex-partner Grace Jabbari. He was sentenced to serve 52 weeks at an in-person domestic violence intervention program. Disney cut ties with Majors after that, and Kang was written out of the MCU.
Now, a site called Screen Geek is reporting that, according to their sources, "Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is considering bringing Jonathan Majors back into the MCU. The idea is for Majors to appear in a future Marvel project to wrap up some loose ends with Kang and close the character’s story."
This is obviously a rumor, and it doesn't strike me as a particularly believable one. Disney has made plans to replace Kang as the MCU's next major villain: that role will be taken up by Doctor Doom, to be played by returning Marvel headliner Robert Downey Jr. There probably will be a few loose threads dangling concerning Kang, but it's hard to imagine Disney working with Majors again after breaking with him in such a public way.
Then again, it's not impossible. Majors' movie Magazine Dreams, which fans have suspected might have gotten shelved indefinitely following the actor' convictions, recently got a trailer laced with quotes that praise his performance.
Maybe Majors could make a comeback? I'm not ruling it out, but I still judge this rumor as unlikely to be true. And if Kang does return, it would have to be in a reduced capacity; I can't see Marvel reorienting itself completely, bringing in Robert Downey Jr. as the next big bad, and then reorienting itself again and getting back on its original path; at some point that just becoems too costly.
Marvel is moving forward, though. There's a new Captain America movie coming out this month and a Fantastic Four movie heading our way in July:
