Matt Murdock cracks bones and spills blood in official trailer for Daredevil: Born Again

Will the Daredevil TV show tone itself down now that it's making the jump from Netflix to Disney+? Doesn't look like it.

Daredevil, a gritty crime drama about the Marvel superhero, ran for three seasons on Netflix before it was canceled, a victim of Disney's attempt to move all of its content over to Disney+, its own budding streaming service. Seven years later, the show is coming back as Daredevil: Born Again. It has all of its original cast in tow, including Charlie Cox as Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio as his arch-enemy Wilson Fisk. Watch the first official trailer above!

Time has passed in the world of Daredevil just as it's passed in our world. Apparently Matt Murdock has stopped fighting crime as Daredevil because "a line was crossed." He's still working with Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) as a lawyer. And then there's crime boss Wilson Fisk, who was heading to jail the last time we saw him in the season 3 finale. But now he's...mayor of New York City? "I can't shake the feeling that you're gaming the system," Matt tells him during a face-to-face sit-down in a diner. Yeah, I'd guess so.

And apparently Matt wants to do something about that, because we see him suiting back up as Daredevil and knocking around heads. One questions fans have had about the new Daredevil series is whether it would be as violent and brutal as the first, Disney+ not being known for its explicit content. Based on this trailer, the show will still be pretty hardcore; there's a shot near the end where we see a dude's arm get broken and blood start to pool through his shirt. I have a feeling that one's going to haunt me.

We also catch a glimpse of Jon Bernthal returning as the Punisher, now with a six-month beard, as well as a new-to-the-show superhero called White Tiger. Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ on Tuesday, March 4. This new season will only run for nine episodes, down from the 13 fans would get back during the Netflix days. That's a bit of a shame, although pretty common for this new era of streaming.
