The third season of The Wheel of Time kicks off on Prime Video in a month, and the hype train is picking up speed. Today, Prime Video dropped a new poster showing a ton of characters we'll be catching up with in the new episodes:

Let's name everyone, shall we, although be forewarned: there's a SPOILER mixed into that group. Starting from the top left and going row by row, we have Elayne (Ceara Coveney), Aviendha (Ayoola Smart), Loial (Hammed Animashaun), Alanna (Priyanka Bose), Verin (Meera Syal), Min (Kae Alexander), Ishamael (Fares Fares), Moghedien (Laia Costa), Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okonedo), Lan (Daniel Henney), Mat (Dónal Finn), Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood), Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Nynaeve (Zoë Robins), Egwene (Madeleine Madden), Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), and Lanfear (Natasha O'Keeffe). And of course that's Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), the Dragon Reborn, there in the front.
The Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan have a ton of characters, and while the TV show can't include them all, I'm glad the ensemble is still proper big. However, as mentioned, there is one surprise among that collage. Hiding in the back there, in the upper right, his face mostly obscured by other characters and a big vertical bar, is Ishamael (Fares Fares), the Forsaken sorcerer whom Rand killed at the end of season 2. What's he doing on this poster?
Well, if you're up for some book SPOILERS, Ishamael does eventually return after his death; like everyone in this world, he is bound to the wheel of time, much to his chagrin, which means he can be brought back, albeit in a new form. In the books, he eventually returns as a new character named Moridin. However, that happens quite a bit later in the story. So far as season 3 is concerned, my bet is that Ishamael turns up in a flashback to the Age of Legends, of which there has been at least one every season so far.
The Wheel of Time official trailer drops tomorrow
Prime Video also revealed that there's an official trailer for The Wheel of Time season 3 dropping tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. PST. We've already seen a teaser trailer for the new season. What's the difference between a teaser trailer and a normal trailer? A normal trailer is longer.
In addition, Prime Video will be holding a special fan screening of The Wheel of Time season 3 premiere in London on February 22. For the rest of us, the new season will kick off on Thursday, March 13.
The next season of the show will adapt The Shadow Rising, the fourth book in the series and often considered one of the best. I'm excited to see if the cast and crew can pull off this crucial section of the story.
