New Star Wars movie The Mandalorian & Grogu wraps filming, as does Wednesday season 2
By Dan Selcke
We have news on some of the big things you'll be watching over the next couple of years. First up, the official Twitter account for Wednesday has announced that season 2 of the Addams Family sideshow has wrapped filming, complete with a picture of a glowering Jenna Ortega to mark the occasion:
It's been two years since the first season of Wednesday debuted on Netflix and went mega-viral. Ortega's take on the sullen Addams daughter was incredibly popular, as were her dance skills. Will lightning strike twice when Wednesday returns for new episodes next year? Stay tuned.
Speaking of major projects wrapping on filming, Star Wars head honcho Dave Filoni confirmed that The Mandalorian & Grogu, a new Star Wars movie spun off from the popular TV show, is finished with shooting while speaking to Extra TV. "I'm very excited about it," Filoni said. "It was great seeing Grogu, he's become such a star, and it's amazing how it's evolved, what we can do now with the puppetry compared to season 1...What a wonderful little creation Grogu is."
The Mandalorian & Grogu is scheduled to come out in theaters on May 22, 2026. So far as we can tell, we're getting this movie instead of a fourth season of The Mandalorian TV show; you can decide for yourself whether that's a good thing. In any case, it'll be the first Star Wars movie Disney has released since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.
Dave Filoni assures fans that Ahsoka season 2 is coming
While he was at it, Filoni also assured fans that he was working on a second season of Ahsoka, the TV show about ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). "I'm so well into that as well," he said. "I've been writing it, and I'm still the single writer on it. I'm been enjoying doing that, but it's a challenge. Working some of these arcs through has been a challenge, and making sure it's all gonna come out in a way that's exciting for fans...I'm pretty happy with it, we'll see."
Ahsoka made her live-action debut on an episode of The Mandalorian before getting spun off into her own series. The first season of Ahsoka ended with the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) returning to the galaxy to wreck havoc. I actually wouldn't be surprised if that thread were picked up in The Mandalorian & Grogu, but we'll have to wait a while to be sure.
