While we're waiting for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 to make its premiere on Disney+ in December 2025, there's so much to learn about the upcoming new season. It's been two years since the series first made its premiere and became a not only a hit but a fan-favorite. Soon, that wait will come to an end, but there's a "huge change" from the book in store in season 2.
From the beginning, the Percy Jackson television has made changes from Rick Riordan's popular book series, but series star Leah Jeffries, who plays Annabeth in the show, has now previewed one of the biggest changes yet in a new interview and season 2 preview with Entertainment Weekly. However, it sounds like a change fans might enjoy more than they expect.
For the first time, Percy Jackson season 2 will adapt the Sirens scene from Riordan's second novel in the series, The Sea of Monsters. The 2013 film adaptation omitted this beloved scene, but we're finally going to see this moment between Percy and Annabeth, before which Annabeth learns her fatal flaw. It's definitely exciting to see this scene brought to lie, but it's going to be different.

Percy Jackson season 2's Sirens scene features 'huge change'
Jeffries shared with Entertainment Weekly, and likely warned fans, that the moment between Percy and Annabeth, and maybe even the Sirens scene as a whole, features a "huge change" from the book. Don't get too concerned, though. Jeffries also revealed that she "just [loves] how it came together. Me and Walker [Scobell] definitely did our best to give you guys that."
We'll have to wait and see what the change is when season 2 starts streaming on Disney+, but Percy Jackson himself also teased a change in the scene that fans will without question love. Scobell said the Sirens scene gives Percy and Annabeth more time to open up to each other and have a conversation about their relationship instead of simply forging ahead with their adventure.
That differs from the book, and it's one of the upsides of bringing a book to life on screen. The characters and story can have a little bit more room to breathe, and since it's more of a visual and character-driven storytelling medium, it's the perfect opportunity to develop these characters even more and bring additional impact for them. That's what the fans want after all!
Scobell admitted that bringing the Sirens scene to life in season 2 was "almost terrifying." As he explained to Entertainment Weekly, "There's scenes like that where you feel like every single Percy Jackson fan in the world is watching this happen. You can feel all their eyes on you while you're acting." He, Jeffries, and the whole cast and crew certainly don't take fans' expectations lightly.
Hopefully, we will learn lots more details about Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Even though we know that Disney+ has shared the December 2025 release window, fans still want to know the exact Percy Jackson season 2 release date. Stay tuned for more news and updates on the series as they're announced!
