5 great moments we're looking forward to in House of the Dragon season 2

The Battle of Rook’s Rest

Based on reporting straight from set, the big-budget battle of House of the Dragon season 2 will be the Battle of Rook’s Rest. This battle that takes place early in the Dance of the Dragons over an unimportant castle near King’s Landing. The Battle of Rook’s Rest is a seminal event in Fire & Blood. Fought on the ground and in the air, it's the first major battle of the Dance of the Dragons to involve both armies and mounted dragons on both sides.

When one of Rhaenyra’s loyal vassals comes under siege in his castle, surrounded by an army led by Rhaenyra's old flame Criston Cole, Rhaenyra sends the formidable Princess Rhaenys on her dragon to help him. But the mission turns out to be more than the princesses bargained for, with King Aegon II and his brother Prince Aemond meeting Rhaenys in the air above the battlefield with their own dragons. The first official trailer for House of the Dragon season 2 shows soldiers running through woods and fleeing from roaring flames. This is almost certainly the Battle of Rook’s Rest.

It is great to know that fans will have one high-level action episode to that will compete with the likes of Game of Thrones episodes like “Hardhome” and “The Spoils of War” … and this one could be even better as there are three dragons present. Based on the trailer it also looks like the battle will happen in daylight, avoiding the problems that plagued some of the big Game of Thrones battle sequences.
