2. Winterfell

In the final episode of House of the Dragon season 1, Rhaenyra Targaryen was trying to shore up her allies in anticipation of a looming conflict with her half-brother Aegon over who got to sit the Iron Throne. To that end, she dispatched her sons Lucerys and Jacaerys to go try and woo great lords of the realm. Luke went to Storm's End to try and talk with Lord Borros Baratheon, a trip that ended in disaster. Jace made the longer trip to talk to Lord Cregan Stark of Winterfell, although we didn't see him arrive by the end of the season.

In season 2, we will. Jace's visit to Winterfell takes up a decent chunk of Fire & Blood, and I'd love to see a glimpse of the old Stark homestead in the new trailer, including a glimpse of actor Tom Taylor as Cregan Stark. In fact, I want to see more of all of our newcomers, including Amanda Collin as Jeyne Arryn, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, and more. The cast of House of the Dragon is about to get a lot bigger and I want a taste of that!

3. Our favorite characters glowering at the camera with war in their eyes

House of the Dragon is a drama with a capital "D." Brother fights brother. Friend fights friend. The battle for the Iron Throne tears at the bonds that should keep people in a state of harmony and happiness. It's an intimate, bloody show about a family at war with itself, and while the special effects can be spectacular, sometimes the way to sell that best is to just point the camera at the actors and let them do their stuff.

One of my favorite moments from the first season of House of the Dragon comes at the very end, when Rhaenyra Targaryen — who up until this point has been trying to keep this simmering inter-family conflict from bubbling over into war — learns that her son Lucerys has been killed by her half-brother Aemond. She turns slowly, looks at the camera, and we see the fire of hatred burning in her eyes. Chills. Chills, I say. I want more moments like that in season 2, moments that take advantage of the complex characters and the extraordinary acting talent the show has in its back pocket. And I want to see glimpses of those moments in the trailer.
