Eddie Mendoza, a senior concept artist at Apple and a contributor toThe Rise of the Dragon: An Illustrated History of the Targaryen Dynasty, will be bringing his talents to the 2025 Song of Ice and Fire calendar. Look, no one uses calendars anymore, but the real purpose of these is to gawk at the gorgeous images gifted artists like Mendoza dream up. For the new calendar, Mendoza is depicting some locations we've never seen onscreen, such as the Dornish castle of Starfall:

And now new images are coming out, courtesy of Westeros.org. The image for January is of the Wall, obviously:

Specifically, this is the Bridge of Skulls, a narrow bridge that spans the Gorge, a huge drop at the west side of the Wall. It's so named for all the bones at the bottom. Maybe add a railing.

Moving on to more familiar territory, Mendoza gave us his take on Dragonstone, the ancestral seat of House Targaryen and where Rhaenyra is currently holed up on House of the Dragon:

Dragonstone is a volcanic island — why else do you think so dragons hang around? — although we haven't seen much in the way of lava on either Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon...yet. Plenty of steam and smoke, though.

Finally, Mendoza gives us a beautiful rendering of the Water Gardens, hte pleasure palace frequented by Doran Martell in the Song of Ice and Fire books and on Game of Thrones both:

That looks like a freakishly nice place to spend the summer.

The 2025 Song of Ice and Fire calendar ships July 23, just around the corner! you can preorder one now.

It's always fun to see what artists choose to illustrate from George R.R. Martin's vast well of work. If only The Winds of Winter would come out, they'd have a whole new slew of characters, locations and events to work with. Someday...
