Beyoncé says she's watching House of the Dragon

It's not exactly an endorsement, but a celebrity as big as Beyoncé even mentioning House of the Dragon probably warrants slapping her quote on the DVD release.

Attention, all humans: singer-songwriter Beyoncé is watching House of the Dragon, HBO's Game of Thrones prequel show. She revealed as much to GQ, which asked her what in music and media is inspiring her right now. "The best movie I’ve seen this year is Inside Out 2," she said. "I think it’s brilliant, and I’m currently watching House of the Dragon and The Chi."

The Chi is a Showtime drama about a neighborhood on the South Side of the Chicago. And House of the Dragon, of course, is about a bunch of blonde-haired dragon-riders burning each other to death. The show's second season wrapped up last month, and we're not sure when exactly Beyoncé started watching or where she is in her journey.

I wish I had more to say about this revelation, but it kind of speaks for itself. Beyoncé did "Crazy in Love" and "Single Ladies" and "TEXAS HOLD 'EM." And she watches House of the Dragon. Four great accomplishments!

Talking slightly more seriously, I'm sure the people at HBO are happy to know that House of the Dragon has penetrated deeply enough into the public consciousness that someone as famous as Beyoncé is watching it and, more importantly, talking about watching it. Back in the day, Game of Thrones was so popular that you had artist major artists like Taylor Swift revealing how they basically dedicated multiple songs to major moments and characters. Celebrity chatter is one measure of how much your show is affecting the cultural barometer, and the bigger the celebrity, the bigger the reading. Celebrities don't come much bigger than Beyoncé.

Does this mean that the upcoming third album is Beyoncé's trilogy that started with Renaissance and continued with Cowboy Carter will be all about House of the Dragon? Almost certainly not, but if she announces the name and it's Dracarys we'll know something is up.
