Whoa, now there's a brief very clip from canceled Game of Thrones prequel Bloodmoon

There's no audio, but we do have the briefest of clips from the never-aired pilot for Blood Moon, the Game of Thrones prequel that never was.

There's been a lot of talk about Game of Thrones prequel series lately. The second season of House of the Dragon is coming out this summer, HBO has A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms waiting in the wings, and now there's discussion about a new Aegon's Conquest show.

Getting here was a long road. HBO had and still has lots of ideas in development, and not all of them worked out. The biggest miss was a prequel show called Blood Moon, set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones. HBO spent some $30 million starring folks like Naomi Watts and Jamie Campbell Bower before decided it didn't want to go ahead with more.

Images from the Blood Moon pilot are still bubbling up on the internet occasionally. Now, there's even a very short clip from the show making the rounds. You can watch it on X by clicking here. (We don't wanna host it on the site in case HBO gets mad.) It's very short and has no idea; it's a shot of Naomi Watts' character wearing a red flowing robe in front of some sort of alter.

There's a lot we don't know about Blood Moon, but our best information is that the pilot would have featured an arranged marriage between a member of House Stark and a member of House Casterly, the family that occupied Casterly Rock before the Lannisters tricked them out of it. (Would we have seen that story happen on Blood Moon? Impossible to say.) Our best guess is that Watts played a Casterly matriarch. What pictures we do have of her show her in a beautifully aportioned room with rock walls, which we can easily imagine being the interior of Casterly Rock.

Unless HBO decides to release the pilot on home video or something (which I would buy, if you're reading this, HBO), we'll probably never see more than dribs and drabs from Blood Moon. But we don't have to feel too regretful, not with a second season of House of the Dragon and a new spinoff in the form of A Knight of the Seven Kingomds: The Hedge Knight on the way.
