Juan Carlos Osorio, a rigger working at Radford Studios in Studio City, California, died yesterday after he feel from a catwalk, according to Deadline. Osorio was 41 years old.

Osorio was working on Wonder Man, a new TV series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although filming was not going on at the time of the accident. A Marvel spokesperson put out a statement. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident,” they said.

Matthew Loeb, president of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, also put out a statement. “Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues,” added President Matthew D. Loeb. “Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can. If you feel unsafe on set for any reason, members can call the IATSE Safety Hotline at 844-422-9273 or use our safety info app.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Osorio's family; on the page, his name is listed Juan "Spike" Wu Osorio. "On February 6th, 2024, our friend Spike lost his life on the set of Marvel's WonderMan shoot at CBS Radford studios due to a potential structural failure," the page reads. "We are hoping the Production Company, The Facility, MBS, Marvel Studios handles things properly, but expect a long road fraught with attorney fees and expenses. In the mean time, bills will be mounting and the widow, Boom Operator Joanne W. will be left to deal with everything. Help if you're able, it's greatly appreciated."

Wonder Man was set to go into full production next month. A premiere date has not been set and it's not clear if Osorio's death will affect the schedule.

Wonder Man is about a former arms dealer named Simon Williams who is endowed with superpowers by the villain Baron Zemo. He eventually switches sides and fights for the good guys, although it's unclear exactly how close the TV version will stick to the comics. The show will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Aquaman) as Simon. Marvel veteran Ben Kingsley will return as actor Trevor Slattery.

We send our best wises to Osorio's family.
