David Tennant talks Good Omens 3, more Aziraphale/Crowley romance
By Ashley Hurst
Good Omens season 2 was an all-round success. Despite moving beyond the story told in the original Good Omens book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, the season still had Gaiman on board a showrunner, and he crafted the story based on an idea for a sequel that he and Pratchett had back in the day.
Of all the events in Good Omens 2, there was one ongoing storyline that interested fans above all others. We are, of course, talking about the romance between angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant). Their story culminated in a kiss in the season finale, which quickly became the show's ultimate talking point. Despite the declaration of love, the duo have been driven apart by their duties. Aziraphale was undertaking a new role in Heaven and Crowley refused to join him; now they aren't speaking to each other.
Looking ahead to season 3, David Tennant is pretty sure that more kisses are in the pipeline. "Well, you don't know how many we've got lined up for series 3," Tennant said at the BAFTA TV Awards, per Radio Times. "I mean, neither do I to be honest but, you know."
Good Omens is one of Tennant's favorite projects to film. Working alongside his good friend Michael Sheen, the two get up to all sorts of antics. "It's deeply joyous. I mean, mainly because I get to hang out with Michael every day and talk nonsense," he said. "And they're great scripts, and it's just a brilliant, kind of mad, crazy world."
So besides more romantic beats, what else can we expect in season 3? Neil Gaiman reveals that the apocalypse becomes a very real threat once again. "Now in Season Three, we will deal once more with the end of the world," he said. "The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren't talking."
Good Omens 3 is still quite a long way off. The current aim is to begin shooting in January 2025, which means a release date could be anytime from late 2025 to early 2026.
