Wow, folks, if you thought the John Wick series couldn't get any cooler, brace yourselves. According to Variety, Donnie Yen, the master of martial arts, is set to star in a John Wick spinoff, and it's promising to be an absolute firecracker of action and intrigue.

Can you believe it? Donnie Yen, kicking butt and taking names, and get this: his character, Caine, does it all while being blind. Talk about a powerhouse.

Now, if you've seen Donnie Yen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, you already know he's got an incredible knack for playing blind characters who can still throw down better than anyone with perfect vision. He's so good at it that you might just start believing he has some sort of superhero sense. In Rogue One, he played Chirrut Îmwe, a blind warrior whose fighting skills left us all cheering from our seats. And now, we’re about to see more of his unbelievable skills in this new spinoff. It’s like he’s telling the world, “Who needs to see when you can kick this much ass?”

Set to begin filming in the vibrant city of Hong Kong in 2025, the spinoff will continue the saga of Caine following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, where he was a total scene-stealer. Freed from the chains of the notorious High Table, Caine's journey promises more adrenaline-pumping action and maybe a bit of soul-searching, as any good assassin story would have.

The brilliant mind behind the script is Robert Askins, known for his work on The Umbrella Academy. With such a creative writer at the helm, we’re bound to get a script that’s both thrilling and rich with depth. And let’s not forget, the project is being overseen by none other than Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick series; you know it’s going to keep up the jaw-dropping, stylish action we’ve all come to love.

What's really exciting is seeing how this spinoff will expand the John Wick universe. The movies have always been about more than just action; they weave gripping narratives with complex characters that pull you in. And with Donnie Yen leading the charge, I have no doubt we’re in for a treat that will blend intense martial arts with the emotional depth and storytelling prowess that has defined the John Wick saga.

So, get ready, action fans! Donnie Yen is about to show us again just how much of a badass he can be, blindfolded or not. If his past roles are anything to go by, we're in for a stunning display of martial arts mastery that'll have us all mimicking moves in our living rooms (though maybe keep the kicks low to avoid breaking the coffee table).

Since it's filming in 2025, this new John Wick spinoff probably won't come out until 2026 at the earilest. However, there's another spinoff — Ballerina starring Ana de Armas — coming out next year.
