We still don't know if For All Mankind will get a fifth season of Apple TV+, but showrunners Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert are ready to hit the ground running.

The fourth season of For All Mankind wrapped up last month, closing out another solid stretch of episodes for this under-watched Apple TV+ drama. For All Mankind takes place in an alternate version of our world where the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union never slowed down, resulting in us exploring space and developing technologies at a must faster pace. The stringer at the end of season 4 brought us to the year 2012, when we'd built a city on an asteroid orbiting Mars. C'mon, real us, catch up!

The plot of season 4 revolved around that asteroid, which is full of valuable iridium. Some characters wanted to bring the asteroid to Earth so the iridium could be mined close to home, but others hatched a plot to make sure it would remain in orbit around Mars, forcing the governments of Earth to continue investing in space exploration. This "asteroid heist" was the big climax of the season.

We still don't know if For All Mankind will return for a fifth season, but showrunners Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert have plenty of ideas for what happens next. “There’ll be justice!” Nedivi told TV Line, suggesting that the people who stole the asteroid won't get away with this.

“I think the dominos of the fallout of this asteroid heist are going to be really interesting to figure out once we are able to kind of dig into a potential Season 5, and we just have to see how that all unfolds," added Wolpert. "But there’s definitely going to be some consequences for some of these people.”

Will For All Mankind return for a fifth season on Apple TV+?

Fans of For All Mankind surely don't like hearing Wolpert describe it as a "potential season 5," but that's where we are right now. For All Mankind is the rare big(ish) budget genre show that's had a new season come out almost every year since it began, without much in the way of gaps. But it's never been a breakout phenomenon, and it's possible Apple TV+ is weighing its options.

If the series does come back, it will be the longest running show on Apple TV+. Nedivi and Wolpert have revealed that season 5 will again feature Joel Kinnaman in the role of Ed Baldwin, one of the big players behind the asteroid heists. He may be the only season 1 cast members left, as others have peeled away as time has marched on.

Nedivi and Wolpert have said they have plans for six or seven seasons. We hope they get there.
