Marvel continues to try and right the ship by making movies people actually want to see. First up is this year's Deadpool & Wolverine, which has more buzz around it than any Marvel movie in a long while. After that there's Fantastic Four, about a superpowered family who goes up against a giant, planet-eating villain named Galactus.

Again, this is a movie people are getting excited about, in part because of the cast. Game of Thrones alumnus and all-around internet darling Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby will play his wife Sue Storm, Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn is his brother-in-law Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrachas their friend Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. And now, Total Film reports that the movie has found its Galactus: English actor Ralph Ineson.

The 54-year-old Ineson has been around the block and back, appearing in movies and shows like the original British version of The Office, The Witch, Chernobyl, The Green Knight and the final three Harry Potter movies as the Death Eater Amycus Carrow. Game of Thrones fans may remember him as Dagmer Cleftjaw, an Ironborn warrior who helped Theon Greyjoy take Winterfell back in the second season, and then smacked Theon unconscious with a staff when it became clear that he was an incompetent leader.

With the exception of Pascal, there are few big names associated with the Fantastic Four movies, although icon John Malkovich did just join the movie in an undisclosed role. That aside, I think Marvel is making the right choice by casting actors who are right for the roles, rather than necessarily out-of-this-world famous. Ineson is a cool choice for Galactus. I'm sure director Matt Shakman will put Ineson's deep, rumbling voice to good use, but the performance will probably be mostly about gesture and physicality. I expect Ineson's visage will be overlaid will a lot of CGI to turn him into a galaxy-sized destroyer of worlds.

In Marvel Comics, Galactus has a herald known as the Silver Surfer, someone who goes ahead to planets and says, "Hey, my boss is gonna eat this place. Duck." In the new movie, the Silver Surfer will be played by Julia Garner, who won multiple Emmys for her turn as Ruth in the Netflix show Ozark. It's another fun casting choice.

The Fantastic Four movie is scheduled to come out in theaters on July 25, 2025.
