Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have been in the news a lot this week, thanks to a far-ranging interview the creative duo gave to talk up their new sci-fi show 3 Body Problem. Based on the highly influential Remembrance of Earth's Past book trilogy by Chinese author Liu Cixin, 3 Body Problem is a complex story about how humanity navigates first contact with an alien civilization. It's sweeping and ambitious, and exactly the sort of story we'd hope to see the guys behind Game of Thrones tackle next.

It should come as no surprise that Weiss and Benioff brought some of their Thrones colleagues with them to their new show. Actors John Bradley (Samwell Tarley), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) and Jonathan Pryce (the High Sparrow) will all appear in 3 Body Problem. Behind the scenes, longtime Thrones executive producer Bernadette Caulfield will serve as an executive producer.

And now we have confirmation of another Thrones alum who will be contributing to 3 Body Problem:Ramin Djawadi, who created the music for Thrones as well as the spinoff series House of the Dragon. David Benioff casually confirmed this during the video portion of his and Weiss' interview with The Hollywood Reporter, which you can watch on YouTube:

Benioff mentioned Djawadi during the interview when he was asked about the last time someone had quoted Game of Thrones to him, which led into a fun story about how the showrunners went to see Djawadi in concert.

"We went to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, it was Ramin Djawadi...the composer from Game of Thrones and also 3 Body Problem, was playing the Game of Thrones score," Benioff recalled. "And we went with another friend of ours, Michelle...and we kept seeing people walk by with t-shirts that read 'I drink and I know things,' which is a Tyrion Lannister line that Dan [Weiss] wrote. And I said to [Michelle], 'I'm jealous 'cause all these people are wearing these shirts with Dan's line." Laughter ensued.

Beyond the fun anecdote, I believe this may be the first time we've gotten official confirmation that Djawadi is doing the score for 3 Body Problem. Obviously, Djawadi needs no hype from us; if you've watched fantasy and sci-fi shows or movies in recent years, you've undoubtedly heard his music. It'll be cool to hear him lend his talents to the grounded science fiction universe of 3 Body Problem.

3 Body Problem premieres March 21 on Netflix. We'll be watching!
