Honest Trailers shades House of the Dragon season 2 as "season 1.5"

The second season of House of the Dragon is over, and now the parodists will have their say.

The second season of House of the Dragon wrapped up a couple of weeks ago, and reactions were mixed. There was lots of good stuff, including the Battle of Rook's Rest and the Red Sowing, but there were also many disappointed that the show ended without a climax or a big bang at the end, leading to reports that a couple of episodes were cut off and moved into season 3.

Honest Trailers, which makes funny faux trailers about popular movies and TV shows, definitely picked up on that, needling the new season as "House of the Dragon season 1.5" and bemoaning that we have a long time to wait before we can get to the stuff we thought we would get to back when season 1 ended in 2022. "Now, HBO's delivering all the dragon-filled battles of yore...next season, which is two years from now," the new trailer quips. "You've heard of filler episodes. Now prepare for an entire filler season, as we've gone from the last finale, where battle lines were drawn and war was on the horizon, to this season's finale, where battle lines are drawn, and war is on the horizon."

You can watch the video above. Honest Trailers are usually good for a chuckle, although of course milage will vary. The line between 'joke about the shortcomings of this thing' and 'complaint about the shortcomings of this thing' can sometimes be quite thin. And obviously if you loved the second season of House of the Dragon, you might not vibe with complaints about Daemon wandering "through a season-long Halloween special." Although if you're me, you're probably more sympathetic to that take.

Also, this Honest Trailer pronounces "Criston" ad "Christian." Disqualified!

Although HBO hasn't as yet set a release date for House of the Dragon season 3 (or season 4, which will wrap up the series), we probably won't be watching it until 2026, which does indeed seem like a long time away. In the meanwhile, they'll be releasing a new Game of Thrones prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, sometime next year. Perhaps Honest Trailers will have fewer snarky things to say about that one.
