House of the Dragon showrunner previews fantastic, tear-jerking scene in the season 2 finale
By Dan Selcke
The second season of House of the Dragon is now off and running. Episode 1 ended with a disturbing death, which is how you know we're back in Westeros. Now it's full speed ahead to civil war as the Blacks, led by Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, array themselves against the Greens, led by King Aegon II Targaryen. Only one of them can sit the Iron Throne.
Between now and then, we can expect violence, bloodshed, and characters throwing their hands to the heavens and asking what hath they wrought. It's hard to predict where Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon and the rest of our "heroes" will be by the time we reach the eighth and final episode of the season, but showrunner Ryan Condal teased a heartrending scene to come on House of the Dragon: War Room on Sky.
Looking forward to the season finale, Condal previewed "one of the best scenes we've made on this show. It's between two people, and it's very long, and it brought us to tears on set. It's brilliant." The scene is written by producer Sara Hess.
Without giving away too many spoilers (and giving a disclaimer that we don't know what's happening in the finale for sure), we've heard that the finale will feature a reunion between two characters at the heart of the show, and I'll leave it to you to guess which two. I can easily believe that this is what Condal is talking about.
Condal was also asked to summarize the new season in three. He opted for three: "Paradise lost"
New episodes of House of the Dragon air Sundays on HBO and Max.
