Thanos is undoubtedly the greatest villain in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The purple alien, who's intention was to collect all six Infinity Stones and use them to kill exactly half of all life in the universe, was the central villain for the first two Avengers movies, ultimately meeting his demise in Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Right now, the MCU is very much in its multiverse era, ushering in new heroes and building up to the next huge ensemble event. The over-arching villain is now Kang the Conqueror, who will cause war throughout the fragile multiverse in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2026). But this is the Marvel Universe — death is rarely permanent. And apparently there's already talk of Thanos returning to our screens.
Thanos has already made a couple of post-death appearances, most notably in the What If...? series, which chronicles how stories could've worked out if events were slightly altered. As for further appearances in the live-action main timeline, star Josh Brolin isn't ruling anything out. "You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine that they're gonna bring him back," he told ComicBook. “There's theWhat If...? series and that's a different kind of Thanos and all that."
That said, Brolin added that nothing has been worked out yet. "But I don't know in the Marvel world whether they're going to bring him back."
How even would they bring him back? Would he be resurrected by way of the Infinity Stones? Would mulitversal chaos be involved? One thing Brolin has recently learned is that Thanos is the most killed villain in Marvel history. “You learn something new every day," he said. I'm sure fans of the MCU would love to see him killed off a few more times.
To quote Thanos himself: He is inevitable.
Paul Bettany wants to reprise his role as Vision
Another iconic MCU star is Paul Bettany (Vision). Having played the android throughout several movies and, of course, being involved in beloved Disney+ series WandaVision, Bettany thinks there's plenty more story left in his character.
During a recent appearance at Megacon, he was asked about whether he'd return to the MCU if asked. His response wasn't coy at all. “Why wouldn’t I? Yes, 100%,” he said.
A Vision TV show, perhaps? I'm sure fans would love that!
