Kit Harington and Sophie Turner reunite for medieval horror film The Dreadful

It sounds like Kit Harington's character won't be as kind to Sophie Turner's character as Jon Snow and Sansa were to each other on Game of Thrones.

Deadline reports that Kit Harington and Sophie Turner, known for playing Jon Snow and Sansa Stark on the HBO fantasy hit Game of Thrones, will be starring in a new horror movie together: The Dreadful.

In The Dreadful, written and directed by Natasha Kermani, Turner plays Anne, who lives a solitary life with her mother-in-law Morwen (no word on what happened to her husband) on the outskirts of soeciety. Harington plays "a man from their past" who returns and sets off a sequence of events that lead Anne to a turning point.

All of this, I should mention, happens against the backdrop of the Wars of the Roses, the medieval conflict between Houses Lancaster and York for control of the throne of England. A Song of Ice and Fire author has cited the Wars of the Roses as one of the inspirations for his story (Lancaster = Lannister and York = Stark, more or less) so this is weirdly close to Game of Thrones given the actors involved, although I doubt Harington and Turner's characters will be acting much like Jon and Sansa. Given that this is a horror film, I'd advise Anne to start running now.

It's hard to see casting Harington and Turner in these roles as very intentional, though. They may be trying to pull in the fans who remember them from their Game of Thrones days. And you know what? It's working. I'm at least curious. We don't have a release date yet but we'll keep an ear out.

In the meantime, Harington and Turner have done plenty of work since Game of Thrones ended in 2019. Harington appeared in the Marvel movie Eternals, and you can soon see him as a seductive super-capitalist in the third season of Industry on HBO. Sophie Turner has also played the superhero game by appearing in X-Men movies like Dark Phoenix, and is getting buzz her portrayal of real-life jewel thief Joan Hannington in the upcoming TV series Joan.
