The second season of House of the Dragon is now behind us, and if your "For you" page on X is full of reactions like mine, you're probably also a little frustrated by all the discourse. I can admit season 2 was far from perfect, but some of the "fan" reactions are getting a little out of control. Most major fandoms like this one can be toxic, but it seems like Game of Thrones fans will just never be happy. The cast of the original show can definitely attest to this, receiving criticism — both warranted and not — each season.

While Game of Thrones star Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow for all eight seasons, gets ready for the premiere of Industry season 3, he still can't escape discussions of the Westeros universe. During an appearance on CBS Mornings this week, he was also faced with questions about House of the Dragon. Some fans are unhappy with the season 2 finale, something he can likely relate to given how many people were upset after the end of Thrones.

Kit Harington advises against getting wrapped up in social media

The interviewer admitted to being upset about the House of the Dragon season 2 finale before asking Harington what advice he has for the cast. The actor was quick to respond: "Don't read social media." Harington continued by advising the actors not to search for their names on social media or even the show name. "And you won't get wrapped up in your own bubble," he said.

Needless to say, that's probably the best advice Harington could give. Despite some negative reviews from critics, the worst of the House of the Dragon season 2 hate undoubtedly lives on social media. I've even seen some say the recently released finale was worse than the Game of Thrones series finale, which is a huge claim to make. Of course, to that, others are disagreeing and arguing, making X and other platforms a complete hellscape to be on.

I'm not an actor, but just as a fan, I should take Harington's advice at this point! It's not fun when there's so much toxicity.

Harington joins Industry in its third season as a character named Sir Henry Muck, who he describes as a "posh idiot." If you're unfamiliar with the HBO show, it's basically Succession meets Euphoria. It follows a group of young investment bankers navigating their professional and personal lives. The first two seasons were pretty good, but it looks like the third is getting the show's best reviews yet, which is awesome. The season 3 premiere airs this Sunday, August 11 on HBO and Max. If you're still excited for what's to come on House of the Dragon despite a disappointing season 2 finale, you're not alone! I can't wait for the show to return. Of course, we'll likely be waiting until 2026 for the third season to premiere, but we'll have other great shows to watch in the meantime to keep us busy.
