This past April, Amazon Prime Video dropped the first season of Fallout, its TV adaptation of the beloved video games from Bethesda. We followed the naive Vault Dweller Lucy (Ella Purnell) as she left her underground home to brave the surface of the Wasteland, long irradiated and desecrated by the remnants of nuclear war. Lucy did a lot of learning in eight episodes, and the final stinger hinted where she would be going next: New Vegas, the setting of the hugely popular 2010 game Fallout: New Vegas.

One of the most important characters in Fallout: New Vegas is Robert House, better as Mr. House, an industrialist who survived the neclear apocalypse by putting his body on life support and hooking his consciousness up to a supercomputer. He now rules New Vegas with an iron fist. He was played briefly in a flashback in the first season of Fallout by actor Rafi Silver.

We don't know for sure if Mr. House will feature in season 2, but it's looking very likely. "Fans can look forward to future conversations about Robert House, an integral figure in the games to New Vegas," wrote Variety during a discussion with cast and crew. It would seem almost criminal to tease New Vegas and to not give us an appearance from Mr. House; I think the Fallout producers know what fans want to see.

Will the Wasteland change Lucy in Fallout season 2?

As for Lucy, she'll continue to learn lessons as she gets used to life in the Wasteland. Ella Purnell wonders if she can hold onto her innocent spirit, especially after the end of season 1 when she found out that her own father — whom she'd always looked to as a paragon of goodness and dignity — had a hand is causing the apocalpyse that ruined the surface world. "I spent most of my time as Lucy just hating the Ghoul, and then, in the last episode, stupidly, it occurred to me far too late that the story that they were really trying to tell was how similar Lucy and the Ghoul are," Purnell told The Hollywood Reporter. "It lined up with Lucy’s realization that her statement, 'I may look like you, but I’ll never be like you,' may not be 100 percent true. So that realization came at a great time, but I don’t know what's going to happen in season two and I’m very excited to find out. But, if and when Lucy does learn about [Cooper’s Vault-Tec history], it’s only going to further reinforce her understanding that people change on the wasteland. And if he was that once upon a time, then what’s she in for?"

"Part of me thinks she’ll always be Lucy, and the other part of me wonders how anyone can survive that betrayal and hurt and trauma. Her entire world has just been ripped apart and ripped at the seams. It crumbled in front of her in a second. She’s always had such strong core beliefs, but they were rooted in her dad. So, when you take away that base foundation, I just don’t know how she’ll fare, I just don’t know."

It can be hard for Purnell to build this character without knowing exactly where she ends up, but she's a very talented actor and I think pretty much everyone watching wants to take the rest of the journey with her. "My hope is that when this show is over and done with — after however many total seasons we’re blessed with — people will watch it all over again and see moments, from the very beginning, of who Lucy ends up becoming. If I can make that happen, I’ve won, but I don’t know I’m going to do it. "

We do not know at present when we'll see Lucy, the Ghoul, and the rest of the wretches inhabiting the Wasteland again. Amazon renewed the show quickly after the first season dropped, but series like these still take time to produce. My bet is that we won't see new episodes until 2026.
