This week was Geeked Week at Netflix, and by all the treasure in the high seas did they deliver. Avatar: The Last Airbender is officially in production on season 2 and has cast Toph! Squid Game season 2 has a new teaser! Black Mirror announced its star-studded cast for its seventh season! Arcane season 2 got a release date! Everywhere you look, there's news, news, news.

Some of that news we had an inkling of even before it dropped, but now it's official. That's the case for One Piece, Netflix's pirate fantasy show based on the long-running and beloved manga by Eiichiro Oda. Just yesterday we reported that Joe Manganiello (True Blood) and Lera Above (Anna) were reportedly joining the series for its second season, after some overenthusiastic Netflix employee posted their names to the Tudum site a bit early. But now it's official official! Check out showrunner Matt Owens revealing Manganiello's casting from Geeked Week:

And here's Lera Abova taking the stage:

So there you have it! But Manganiello and Abova's castings weren't the only new One Piece things we got during Geeked Week. Netflix also debuted a behind-the-scenes video where Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy) gave fans a glimpse of a table read for season 2. That video has weirdly vanished from Netflix's social media, but you can still find it if you do a bit of digging online.

The most exciting thing about the table read video is that it gave us our first glimpse of Tony Tony Chopper, a little reindeer guy who'll be joining the Straw Hat crew in season 2. Chopper features in the Drum Island arc of the manga and anime, which will be a key part of the live-action show's second season. Thankfully, even though the BTS video is gone for some inexplicable reason, the internet has preserved the glimpse of Chopper for all time:

We'll be seeing plenty more of the little fella in One Piece season 2!

And even that's not all. Let's end with a set visit curated by Jeff Ward, who plays the psychotic villain Buggy the Clown. Ward will be back next season and so will Buggy. Check it out:

One Piece season 2 is currently in production in South Africa. We're expecting it to land on our TV screens sometime in 2025.
