And just like that, Outlander has take its final bow. Earlier this week, the cast took to social media to share that filming for the eighth and final season has officially wrapped.

For fans all around the world, this was a saddening reminder that while we still have new episodes heading our way, these are the last of them. It's a heart-wrenching reality to face, but for now, we will live in the moment of new episodes that are yet to come.

The Outlander cast say goodbye

Series star Sam Heughan, who has gallantly played the role of Jamie Fraser over eight seasons, posted a series of photos on his Instagram as filming wrapped.

He shared what life was like on the sets of Outlander over the last decade, and it certainly had us feeling all the feels as he thanked the cast and crew, the fans, and of course, author Diana Gabaldon.

As a joint effort to say goodbye, the cast collaborated with Starz and Sony as they shared their farewell posts. Each cast member, including Heughan and Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser) held the director's clapperboard with the words, "It's a wrap!" written on it.

If you look closer, underneath the section that takes "Take," each cast member wrote what they want to take away from the set. While Heughan and Balfe wrote "everything," Sophie Skelton courageously wrote "Mustang." Richard Rankin humorously said "My dignity," while John Hunter Bell asked for "Tomahawk and war club." The pictures go on, but the sentiment remains the same, the series will be sorely missed and it's devastating to comprehend that the end has truly arrived.

Filming on season 8 wraps around two months before fans will see the premiere of Outlander Season 7, Part 2. What we are hoping to see unfold in this back half of Season 7 is what happens when Roger goes back in time to find his and Brianna's kidnapped son, and how Jamie, Claire, and Ian will fare now that they've arrived in Scotland.

It is a very tumultuous time and so many things are up in the air: will Brianna try to travel through the stones as well with Amanda in tow? Will it be possible? How will the show deviate from the books? We have so many questions, and hopefully, in two months, we will have some answers when the second half of season 7 premieres on Starz on November 22. The eighth and final season will follow sometime after taht.

And while the show has concluded filming forever, we have many episodes left to take all of this in one last time. So forget the end, embrace the present, and let's get ready to enjoy what Outlander has left to show us!

Next. Outlander's Caitriona Balfe dreads having to say goodbye after finishing final season. Even as Caitriona Balfe and the other stars of Outlander approach the end, they still don't know everything: "I can't give any spoilers because I don't know.". dark
