The second season of House of the Dragon premieres on HBO and Max on Sunday, June 16. Ahead of that, HBO is getting some merch ready, including a House of the Dragon coloring book!

Featuring over 75 illustrations, the coloring book doesn't officially come out until May 7, although you can preorder it now if you wish. Best get out the blacks and the greens. And now that these rival factions of the Targaryen dynasty are at war, it probably wouldn't hurt to have some reds around.

A coloring book may seem like a weirdly childish way to celebrate a show where the characters regularly kill each other and marry close blood relations, but adult coloring books — that is, coloring books with fine detailing designed for hands with more dexterity than your average child — have grown more popular in recent years, so why should House of the Dragon be excluded from the fun?

To whet our appetites, House of the Dragon creator George R.R. Martin has made two images from the coloring book available for download on his Not a Blog. In one, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) talks to her best frenemy Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke)...

...and in another, Daemon Targaryen's (Matt Smith) long-necked red dragon Caraxes rears his head, about to chomp someone.

Of course, given that you're in charge, you can make Caraxes any color you want. Hopefully this will tide some folk until House of the Dragon returns in June.
