Phoebe Waller-Bridge is officially making a Tomb Raider show for Amazon Prime Video

Hold onto your ancient artifacts, because Phoebe Waller-Bridge is taking on Tomb Raider for Amazon Prime Video, and I am here for it.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the mastermind behind Fleabag and our beloved droid L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story, is writing and executive producing a new TV show all about vidoe game icon Lara Croft. This won't be just any show: this will be a show where the jungles are dense, the tombs are spooky, and every episode promises to be a wild ride. Can you imagine the witty dialogue and the intricate, heart-pounding plots we're about to witness?

The search is soon starting for who will don Lara's iconic tank top and cargo pants combo. Who will step into the massive boots of Lara Croft, the legendary adventurer and archaeologist who’s been a household name since her first video game appearance in the '90s? The anticipation is killing me.

“Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life," Waller-Bridge said. And honestly, same, Phoebe, same. I've cosplayed as this incredible archeologist and have played almost every single one of her games. Lara Croft has inspired legions of fans to explore, to dare, and to leap (sometimes literally) into the unknown. And now, with Wallder-Bridge at the helm, I’m expecting a fresh, fierce take on our favorite tomb-raiding heroine.

The series will not only continue the legacy of Lara Croft, but also expand the Tomb Raider universe. Thanks to a partnership with Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios, they’re promising new adventures that span multiple media platforms. It’s like they’re building an entire world around Lara, and we get to explore every inch of it. Amazon and Crystal Dynamics are also developing a brand new Tomb Raider video game. So we’re talking a double whammy of Lara Croft coming our way. New series, new game, and undoubtedly new legends to be made. New err'thang, who dis? And we didn't even mention the animated Tomb Raider series coming to Netflix later this year, The Legend of Lara Croft. The Amazon show will be live-action.

Gear up with your grappling hooks and sharpen those puzzle-solving skills. With Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s genius for storytelling and Amazon’s knack for epic series, this Tomb Raider adaptation is on its way to being a groundbreaking addition to the Lara Croft saga. We’ll be embarking on a thrilling journey full of ancient mysteries, dangerous relics, and, knowing Phoebe, some seriously snappy banter.
