Thanks to Prime Video's hugely popular animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comic Invincible, the story has become one of the most popular superhero sagas in the universe. Despite the animated series firing on all cylinders, Kirkman has confirmed that Invincible may also be heading to the big screen as a live-action movie at some point.

The Invincible movie isn't a new announcement. It's been in the works for some time. Way back in 2017, Skybound Entertainment announced a movie adaptation, with both Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg involved. However, things quickly went quiet. Then the pandemic happened, putting a hurdle in the way of progress. And then after that, the acting and writing strikes of 2023 occurred, stalling projects across the industry.

Fast forward to today, and the Invincible movie is still a puzzle waiting to be solved. However, Kirkman recently revealed that the flick is being actively worked on...just very slowly. "It's going through the pipeline, slowly," he told IGN. "The strikes and everything kind of put a pause on things for a while. We're just now getting back into that, and it's all very exciting, but it's not something that we're rushing."

Kirkman and his team are trying to find a way to make the Invincible movie its own entity. Naturally, given the structure of a movie, it's got to cut things out and focus on certain storylines. For a story as convoluted as Invincible, this will prove a massive challenge.

""It's something that we definitely want to get right. Now that the show is out, and the animated series is doing well, we're trying to figure out ways to make sure that it stands apart, [and] works in tandem with the show to show how cool Invincible is, and doesn't detract from it in any way. There's a lot of manoeuvring that has to go into that, so it's taking a little bit of time.""

As for what changes would take place, Kirkman plays it coy. "Well, I wouldn't want to reveal [what exactly would be different], per se, but I think that there's a lot of different things that you can accomplish in live-action," he explained. "The Invincible live-action [film] will be a completely different thing," he said. Hopefully it's different in a good way!
