Stephen King praises Netflix's 3 Body Problem as 'extraordinary'

Iconic horror author Stephen King loves the sci-fi series 3 Body Problem which still hasn't been renewed for a second season. How about now, Netflix?

Back in March, Netflix dropped the first season of 3 Body Problem, an adaptation of the Remembrance of Earth's Past novels by Liu Cixin. This sci-fi series asks the question: what if humanity made contact with an extraterrestrial species, and what if they sucked? The show explores the impact of the Chinese cultural revolution, introduces lots of interesting sci-fi concepts, and has fans eager for more. There are two more books in Cixin's series, and showrunners David Benioff, Dan Weiss and Alexander Woo are eager to get to them.

Despite solid ratings, Netflix still hasn't renewed 3 Body Problem for a second season. Maybe this can help convince them: author Stephen King, the icon behind works like Carrie, The Stand, The Shining, IT, Misery, The Dark Tower, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and many, MANY more, is throwing his weight behind the show, taking to X to call it an "extraordinary science fiction series--sprawling, thought-provoking, immersive."

King was particularly moved by scenes of humanity's first contact with the alien species, known as the San Ti. Whether he's talking about the moment when Ye Wenjie decided to reach out to the aliens in an attempt to get them to help solve humanity's problems or the moment when they call everyone on Earth bugs, he's right. Those scenes are terrific.

And there are lots more scenes like that in store in the next two books. So Netflix, if the ratings aren't a good enough reason for you to renew the show, and the pleadings of fans like me don't move you, maybe you'll listen to the counsel of the one and only Stephen King. That's at least one famous viewer! Maybe you can do a brand partnership where he promotes season 2 to his legions of fans!

Anything I can do to try and convince Netflix to bring this show back, I will. Until we get an official annoucement, we'll keep watching and wishing and hoping.
