Take the Black: Godzilla and Kong smash the box office, Star Trek: Discovery returns
By Daniel Roman
Welcome to Take the Black, the weekly WiC show where we talk about all things sci-fi, fantasy, movies, books and TV. Things were quiet on the House of the Dragon front this week, but Syrax and Caraxes aren't the only formidable beasts around. In honor of the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, special guest Camila Domingues joins us to talk all things Monsterverse. What movies in this cinematic universe do you need to see before going to watch Kong and Godzilla duke it out in their newest outing? And how does it stand in conversation with that other epic Godzilla move of the past few months, Godzilla: Minus One?
Kaiju aren't the only thing worth talking about this week. Star Trek: Discovery is also heading toward its final, final frontier. Season 5 may be the end of the line for Captain Michael Burnham and her crew, but we've got plenty of moving episodes ahead before we say goodbye. What should we expect in the final season of the series that kicked off this new generation of Star Trek shows?
We talk about all that and more in this week's episode of our Take the Black podcast! Watch below:
Star Trek and Godzilla are cool, but they're not the only things we're getting into this week. Invincible season 2 is at an end. One of us has seen the credits roll on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and is still reeling. The Witcher announced new cast members. Plus, House of the Dragon's dueling trailers set an HBO record! There's always a lot to talk about on Take the Black.
