Take the Black: Was the House of the Dragon season 2 finale a disappointment?
By Dan Selcke
Welcome to the finale of House of the Dragon season 2! We've been recapping and reviewing the show these past couple months, and we're back to do it one more time before the long wait for season 3 sets in. Roll the new episode below!
We have nice mix of panelists for this episode, including those who have read the source material — George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood — and those who haven't; panelist Cody Schultz hasn't even seen Game of Thrones before but is way into House of the Dragon. What did book-readers think of the twists and turns in the finale? What did non-book-readers? It's all here.
By and large, we had a lot of problems with the main beats of the episode, especially the big Alicent-Rhaenyra reunion at the end, although of course, mileage will vary. We also don't like that the episode ends on a bunch of cliffhangers after so much of the season was already concerned with setup. We've got to wait two years to get to the good stuff? Give it up, show!
We get into a lot of detail, and there are plenty of things we liked, but I think this episode is destined to be divisive. What did you think?
