The excitement of Geeked Week continues! Last night Netflix dropped a ton of teasers and reveals for many of its biggest shows. We found out that Avatar: The Last Airbender has cast Toph for season 2, One Piece added new cast members, Squid Game season 2 got a teaser, and so many more things it'd be crazy to try to list them all. There was simply a lot, and it's been very fun to catch all the latest.

One series that got some love which fans have been dying to hear more about is The Sandman, which debuted a new behind-the-scenes featurette for its second season. You can watch it right here:

There's a lot of cool stuff in there, from the return of Tom Sturridge as Dream and Kirby Howell-Baptiste as his sister Death, to a massive banquet for Endless, deities, and the like. That banquet would be from Season of Mists, an iconic part of the comic book series which will make its way to the screen in season 2.

The team behind the show sounds pretty excited to bring that part of the comics in particular to life. It includes a dinner where all of the Endless gather together, which is one of the only times in the entire story that they're all in the same place at the same time. “I think one of the most thrilling things about this season, is for the first time to have the siblings of the Endless together in one room, and to see this extraordinary family exist on screen together,” Tom Sturridge said.

We even get a look at some more of those Endless in the teaser, including the return of Mason Alexander Park as Desire, and Donna Preston as Despair:

But the Endless aren't the only ones involved in Season of Mists. Eventually, a banquest for all sorts of deities is held. That's where characters like Thor, Loki, and Odin come in. This video includes our first look at those three, incidentally. Thor is played by The Witcher: Blood Origin star Laurence O'Fuarain, Loki by House of the Dragon's Freddie Fox, and Odin by none other than Clive Russell, who we know best around these parts as the Blackfish from Game of Thrones.

Showrunner Allan Heinberg called out that scene in particular as a favorite. “I’m very excited for audiences to see the banquet that Dream throws for all of the visiting deities and gods and faeries in Season of Mists. It’s your introduction to Thor, it’s your introduction to Loki, Odin — it really is just a showstopper, everywhere you look something interesting and horrible is happening.”

When will The Sandman season 2 premiere on Netflix?

So everything in that teaser itself looks pretty great. But when will we get to watch it? This sneak peak included confirmation that The Sandman season 2 will be coming to Netflix sometime in 2025. That's roughly 3 years after season 1 premiered in mid-2022, which is quite a wait. But considering that the show was impacted heavily by the dual Hollywood writers and actors strikes, it was always a certainty that there was going to be a bit of a delay.

Interestingly, Netflix did not confirm the release schedule for The Sandman. The first season dropped all at once, with a special bonus episode following a few months later. When The Sandman was originally renewed, Netflix was cagey about outright calling it "season 2." So as of now, we don't know whether it'll be split into parts, come all at the same time, or some other format.

Then there's the issue of The Sandman's future. As of this writing, creator Neil Gaiman is facing sexual abuse allegations from multiple women, which have resulted in several of his adaptations being put on pause, including Good Omens season 3 over at Prime Video and The Graveyard Book at Disney. The Sandman wrapped filming in August, so it was already too deep into production for the allegations to affect it much...at least we think. There have been rumbles that The Sandman filmed scenes from the very end of the comic saga for season 2, which has some fans wondering if the show may be wrapping earlier than expected.

We won't know until it airs. Keep your eye out for season 2 of The Sandman, landing on Netflix in 2025.
