Norman Reedus has been a key figure in The Walking Dead universe for well over a decade at this point. His character Daryl Dixon has gone from crossbow-wielding badass to group leader to finding a new life in zombie-ridden France. Reedus doesn't see Daryl's globetrotting journey ending anytime soon; in fact, he's prepared for another six or seven years in the role.

Later this year, AMC will premiere the second season of Daryl's own show: The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol. Yes, the title really is that long. In the season 1 finale, Daryl decided against getting on a boat back to the United States, favouring his new French community, camped out inside the historical fortress Mont Saint-Michel. However, little does he know that Carol (Melissa McBride) is on her way across the Atlantic to meet him. Check out the season 2 teaser below:

The first season of Daryl Dixon received great reviews, rejuvenating a franchise that many thought was as dead as the zombies themselves. Alongside Dead City and The Ones Who Live, it seems there's plenty of staying power in The Walking Dead yet. And despite over a decade of work, totaling over 150 episodes in The Walking Dead Universe, Norman Reedus isn't ready to wave goodbye anytime soon. "I think maybe six or seven more years," he told Mr Feelgood when asked about how much longer he expects to be playing Daryl.

He cites his Daryl Dixon spinoff as an ideal incentive to continue his journey. The show tells a completely unique story, no longer bogged down by the samey aspects of the original series. "The Daryl Dixon spin-off has given me an opportunity to take the show in a direction that’s different to the original show. I didn’t want to make the same show again in a different location. I wanted to reinvent it," Reedus said.

""And they let me, with the other like-minded people involved, invent something new. So it feels fresh to me. It’s in a different language. It’s shot a different way. It’s not really about zombies, and who’s going to get bit this week, it’s completely different. So as long as I keep reinventing it, it’s fun.""

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol premieres September 29 on AMC. Season 3 is already in development. As for what comes after that, whether all the spinoffs converge or Daryl Dixon is his final destination, we shall wait and see.
